In 2010, childhood friends Daniel Holzman and Michael Chernow teamed up to debut The Meatball Shop in New York City’s Lower East Side. The mix-and-match menu of meatballs, served in a warm and convivial environment, was an instant hit. Six more locations of The Meatball Shop—in Williamsburg, West Village, Chelsea, Upper East Side, Upper West Side, and most recently Hell’s Kitchen—opened in quick succession.
Under the direction of chef/owner Holzman, the accessible, value-driven menu features five types of meatballs, a selection of sauces and seasonal sides, house-made ice cream sandwiches, and a carefully curated selection of beer, wine and craft cocktails. Michael and Daniel co-authored The Meatball Shop cookbook, which was published to much acclaim in 2011.
